Add and remove installs
Add a DR site, staging or a new region to your licence yourself, from the console, with no email to us. And take one off.
Starter and Enterprise licences name the installs they cover: production and DR on Starter, up to 10 on Enterprise. You add and remove them yourself. An install already on the licence vouches for the new one, and Warden adds it. Strategic covers every install already.
With a Keychain, it's simpler still: a new site joins the licence as part of joining the Keychain.
Add an install
On the new install
Install your organisation's licence file on it (Settings → Licence). The licence doesn't name this install yet, so
3AM offers Ask to join under Keychain → Installs. Choose what the install is for. 3AM shows a code to copy
(3AMREQ1.…) and six digits.
On an install already on the licence
Go to Keychain → Installs → Add an install and paste the code. Check what it asks for, then type the six digits shown on the new install. They only match if the request reached you unchanged.
Done
Warden adds the install and signs a new licence. Both installs take it within seconds; your other installs get it at their next check-in.
Owners and admins can add and remove installs. Everyone signed in can see the list.
Take an install off
Keychain → Installs → Take off, from any install on the licence. At its next check-in, Warden tells that install it's been removed, and it stops. The last install on a licence can't be taken off.
Common questions
It gives you the signed request to carry. Paste it at warden.3am.si/installs from any machine, then upload the licence you get on both installs.
Warden holds a request for people to look at when something is unusual: the vouching install is new, the limit is reached, or the new install's fingerprint is already known elsewhere. Two people at 3AM approve it, and it finishes by itself. The reason is shown in the console.
No. Only an install already on the licence can vouch, and Warden checks that it's signed with that install's own key, which never leaves it. The six digits catch a request swapped on its way between screens.
Keychain → Installs lists every install added and removed, when, and which install vouched for it. Each licence Warden signs carries this history, so an install notices if two different versions of it were ever signed.
