Install the licence
Upload a licence file in the console, keep it in your configuration folder, or mount it as a Kubernetes Secret.
Most installs never need this: a licence issued for an install that can reach Warden arrives by itself. Install a file by hand on an air-gapped install, or when you've been sent one.
In setup mode, the console opens on Licence. Choose the file, or paste its contents, and select Install licence. 3AM checks it and starts working at once.
Later, Settings → Licence lets you replace it, redeem a trial code, check with Warden now, or remove it.
The licence card
Settings → Licence shows who the licence is for, its tier and dates, how many services and installs it covers and how many are in use, and what Warden last said about it. Owners can pin services, check with Warden now, and request an upgrade.
Checking in with Warden
When it can reach warden.3am.si on port 443, 3AM checks its licence when it's installed, soon after each start, and
about once an hour after that. The answer brings any renewal or change to the licence, the list of revoked licences,
and your organisation's packs.
To change how strict 3AM is about this, set THREEAM_LICENCE_CHECK:
| Value | What happens |
|---|---|
auto (the default) | Checks in when it can. If Warden can't be reached, 3AM keeps running and tries again every 15 minutes |
strict | The licence must have been confirmed in the last 72 hours, or 3AM goes into setup mode |
offline | Never checks in. For air-gapped sites |
Checks go through HTTPS_PROXY if it's set. If your proxy re-signs TLS, give 3AM your CA with THREEAM_CA_BUNDLE.
